Katie Love – Getting to know you

What a crazy busy holiday weekend!

This post is totally random and really has nothing to do with photography, technically speaking. I have no trips or tricks no sneak peeks to brag about. What I did want to accomplish today was a more personal look at each other. As some of you know, my family is strung out all over and we don’t physically get to see each other that much. In order for my to feel grounded and give my kids a “sense” of belonging I have reached out to friends locally and virtually. I read lots of blogs (too many for sure!) and have developed a connection with many amazing people through the internet. I have met some life-changing friends here in McKinney that I couldn’t live without. I will admit that I am a blog stalker and should try to reach out more. This is my attempt to do so.

I want to know more of you BETTER. I get lots of hits on my blog but realized that I haven’t “met” a good portion of you. So please introduce yourself in the comments section. A quick hello and a random fact would make my day sunny!

Here are 4 random things I cannot live without on a daily basis. What are yours?

1. Diet Dr. Pepper. I probably drink gallons of this stuff. Oh and I ALWAYS drink with a straw. My husband thinks I am a crazy person and laughs at my straw basket I keep in the kitchen right next to the cups. Imagine my utter joy when I found the plastic reusable cup with a built in straw that won’t come out. (dishwasher safe and child-stealing proof). By now you probably think I am crazy as well.

2. Avocado and Jojoba Lip Balm. This is my sister’s company and I have to say I have never used a more awesome lip chap. I have one of these beside my bed, in my purse, on my desk. I can NOT stand for my lips to be dry.

3. My color coded calendar. Each family member has a color for his/her activities. I am a visual person and this is the only method that keeps me sane. I know most people would laugh and simply use their iPhone but if I don’t write it down it is going to get forgotten. (I actually use my iPhone as well….more like a backup)

4. Photoshop. While Photoshop is a necessary tool for my business, it is also something I love. I find great satisfaction in curling up at my desk with a mountain of photos to work my magic on. I am a self taught Photoshop user which probably means I should really take a refresher course one of these days!

This girl is always by my side up in my business “helping” all day. She is one of my favorite things. Hands down.

Your turn. Leave me some LOVE and 4 things I never knew about you.

Together Love – Happy 1 year Anniversary!

Chris and Chelsea are an amazing couple. They are as we speak (or blog) enjoying their one year anniversary weekend! Yeah for them!

I had the opportunity to meet them for an engagement session at a fabulous ranch and then capture the beautiful couple on their wedding day. Chris is a stellar musician and is releasing his new album in October. Check out the Nightbirds, TX It was also at their wedding where I met and started working with Ken Mendez, a wonderful DJ who I highly recommend!

Chris and Chelsea are a great reminder to me of the journey I have been on the last year. They have all these new memories and experiences to reflect on and grow from. I  would like to have a Katie Cassidy Anniversary weekend as well to remember the new friends I have made, lessons I have learned, and the journey I am yet to embark. So let’s all celebrate in our own way and wish this amazing couple all the LOVE they can make!

Happy Friday everyone!

Love is….

….getting a tiny camera necklace from a dear friend because she knows how much I love tiny things and all stuff camera related.

So thanks I needed this in a BIG (or tiny) way.

I have some fun stuff coming up! Also I will be announcing the winner of the Love Is contest soon!

Please let me know if there is anything you want to know…ask…tell or show me! I love interacting and I am open to any suggestions!

Baby Love – sweet Campbell

Nothing is sweeter than a 3 week old. The way they wiggle, the way they smell and the way they coo is so precious. Campbell was no exception. Campbell’s Mom was sweet enough to let Shannon and I  take over dinner time while we tried to practice our newborn skills. I have decided that shooting newborns is way different than my brides. Newborns do not care! 3 chins…no problem….chunky thighs….bring them on!!! Campbell is the 4th child, she is also the only GIRL! What a lucky girl to have 3 adoring brothers to watch over her. I know her mom is also enjoying the pink that threw up all over their house.

Thanks a million for letting us “play” with Campbell! I hope you guys enjoy the photos and the time you have with her. She will be all grown up before you know it!

Katie Love – to feel the sun from both sides.

…to love and be loved is to feel the sun from both side. This is my favorite quote and I think it fits my Kolbie so perfectly. What an awesome 19 months we have had with her. She has brought so much laughter and joy into our lives it is astounding. Who needs a tv when you have a baby in the house? I am not really even sure how to write what I am feeling in this post for fear I won’t do it justice. I remember taking Conan’s 18 month pictures and thinking I couldn’t wait for the next stage…always eager to see what he could learn or new trick we could teach him. With Kolbie, all I want is for time to stand still. If I had to describe her in one word it would have to be HAPPY. She is a pocket full of sunshine waiting to explode. She is always giggling and dancing all over the house. Her facial expressions say it all! I am beyond blessed to call her mine.

I could go on and on and on…..but I really want the pictures to speak for themselves.  I wanted a “vintage feel” to this set and I think along with her outfit it works. This is the only time in her life that I can get away with highlighting her chubby thighs. She might just hate me later for it but I had to! After the scary last post I am so thankful I can share these with you all.

I love this darling baby.

Remember those tiny baby girl cowboy boots?

She now wants to wear her boots everyday all the time. I finally had to put them up in her closet because I found her sitting in the bathtub with them on!

…because she is so lucky to have him watch over her.

These are absolutely beautiful Katie! I love the concept and it was executed wonderfully! What a perfect little subject your precious daughter makes! She definitely brings out the best in you…and her big brother!

I love this sweet girl, she is all the things you said. I love her teeth, I love her laugh, but most of all I love her serious face :D

Katie - August 12, 2010 - 8:20 pm

LOL Cassy! I say maybe an angel face? But Christ? not too sure!
I see lots of people in her as well. Some of her expressions are just like Rylee’s and they have a certain cry that sounds the same. I love it! Can’t wait to see you guys!!!!!

Cassy - August 12, 2010 - 8:10 pm

Um, not Christ. Chris. No clue what Christ looks like.

Heather - August 12, 2010 - 8:07 pm

Katie, those pictures are precious! Where did you get those boots? Too cute!

Cassy - August 12, 2010 - 7:58 pm

Man, what a beautiful little girl! I see so many people in her – you, Christ, a bit of Rylee, even some Grandma Peggy! :) You did a great job with all of these. I just love the last one with Conan. You can tell how much they love each other. We love you guys so much.
