…this is probably the most frequently asked question I get when I book a session. Whether it be a family, senior or engagement session, people always want some guidance on what outfit to choose. There is not a perfect answer. As a matter of fact, anytime I have personally had pictures taken of myself and my family, I ask the same question! I want my clients to truly portray their style in their photographs, so I say dress comfortably, after that bring on the textures, layers, accessories and especially color – any and all color. I usually suggest to just keep it in the same color scheme, but never feel like you have to be matchy- matchy. Most people do not have professional pictures taken year round so use the time you pay for to really showcase your personality and character. HAVE SOME FREAKING FUN! This does not mean that you have to go out and buy new outfits for your whole family. It is best to find one major piece that you love and work from there, which usually means you will have a few staple pieces already that you can add to.
Gone are the days of white button ups and blue jeans. Throw on a flirty skirt and a chunky necklace. Grab your cowboy boots and your favorite scarf. Your photographer will love you and so will the camera! I am totally convinced that when my clients are comfortable with how they look and feel, the photographs are a perfect reflection of that!

One suggestion (plead) I give all of my brides is to wear fake eyelashes. I know what you are thinking and STOP. Not everyone wears fake eyelashes, I get that. However, on your wedding day you want to enhance your photographs as much as possible. Eyelashes add that extra pop that takes a picture from great to stunning! If you are not sure about it….try some on and wear them for the day…get used to how they feel. I promise you won’t regret it. Check out the picture below. PRETTY AWESOME!
